Electronic signatures needed to fit the firm’s existing workflows.
Warren Averett wanted to choose an electronic document signature platform and create a more efficient electronic signature process within its internal custom applications.
The firm did not simply need access to an eSignature tool. It needed that tool to work inside the custom applications employees were already using.
The business problem was not simply, “Can we get documents signed electronically?”
It was: How do we integrate electronic signatures into our internal systems so document signing becomes part of the workflow instead of a separate process?
Warren Averett did not need a standalone signing tool that added extra steps. They needed an integration that made electronic signatures a native part of their custom application experience.
Professional services teams need document workflows that are efficient and repeatable.
When important documents need signatures, every extra handoff adds friction. If employees have to leave an internal application, manually prepare a separate envelope, re-enter signer information, and track the process elsewhere, electronic signatures can still feel manual.
For Warren Averett, embedding DocuSign into internal applications created a more efficient path. It allowed users to initiate signing workflows directly from the systems where the work already happened.
A custom DocuSign API wrapper for internal applications
KEYSYS developed an API wrapper to integrate Warren Averett’s custom application with DocuSign, an electronic signature industry leader.
KEYSYS created a dynamic link library, or DLL, to execute the functions the application needed. This gave users the ability to specify the document to be signed, indicate the number of required signees for that document, and create the client envelope.
The technical stack included C#, .NET, and DocuSign.
Instead of creating a one-off connection, KEYSYS built reusable integration logic that could support Warren Averett’s document signature workflow inside its internal systems.
- → DocuSign integration inside custom applications
- → Custom API wrapper for electronic signature workflows
- → Dynamic link library for reusable application functions
- → Document selection for signature routing
- → Configurable number of required signees
- → Client envelope creation
- → C# and .NET implementation
- → More efficient document signing process for internal users
From disconnected signing to embedded electronic signature workflows
Users can specify which document needs to be signed from within the custom application.
The application allows users to indicate the number of required signees for that document.
The DocuSign integration creates the client envelope for signature routing.
The DLL handles the functions needed to connect the internal application with DocuSign.
What once could have become a separate electronic signing process now works as part of Warren Averett’s internal application workflow.
Warren Averett gained a more efficient electronic signature process
By integrating DocuSign into its custom applications, Warren Averett created a more streamlined process for preparing and routing documents for signature.
The new integration gives users a clearer way to choose documents, define signer requirements, and create client envelopes without relying on disconnected manual steps.
- Electronic signatures are connected to internal applications
- Users can initiate signing steps from the systems they already use
- Documents can be specified dynamically
- The number of required signees can be defined by workflow need
- The API wrapper and DLL provide reusable DocuSign functionality
- Warren Averett gained a stronger foundation for electronic document workflows
- Warren Averett needed to select an electronic signature platform
- Internal custom applications needed a more efficient signing workflow
- Users needed a way to specify documents for signature
- Different documents required different numbers of signees
- Envelope creation needed to be handled through the application
- KEYSYS integrated DocuSign with Warren Averett’s internal custom applications
- A custom API wrapper handled electronic signature functionality
- A DLL executed reusable signing functions for the application
- Users can specify documents and required signees
- The application can create the client envelope directly
